This new Happy Hen Ranch website is about 15 years old and still under construction.
We are old and slow with computer stuff.
Please be patient.  This is not a top priority for us!

We have several “house concerts” each year, usually late spring and early fall.
Please send an email to:  andyhappyhen@gmail.com
for more information and to get on the emailing list.

Upcoming concerts:

Saturday, June 8, 2024
Claudia Russell & Bruce Kaplan

Bruce Kaplan and Claudia Russell, Spring 2022

Claudia Russell & Bruce Kaplan Fine Folk Music / Roots Americana

Claudia and Bruce had two wonderful barn concerts in September 2019 and May 2022 (welcoming barn concerts back after the Covid hiatus), and we’re excited to bring them back again this June!

Great songs and stories, great music, and a warm engaging stage presence.
Claudia’s award-winning songwriting and singing, Bruce’s harmonies and exceptional guitar and mandolin work, and their stories and humorous stage banter will make this concert fun and memorable.

If you saw them when they were here before, we’re sure you will be back.
If you missed them, here’s another chance.

Dana Cooper CD Release Concert

Dana Cooper released his self-titled debut album in 1972.  Backed by renowned LA studio musicians “The Section,” including Leeland Sklar and Russ Kunkel, the album showcased Cooper’s lyrical depth and virtuoso guitar playing.  Through the ‘70s and ‘80s, he collaborated with artists like Lyle Lovett, Kim Carnes, Hal Ketchum, and many others.  Over his 50+ year career, Cooper amassed a catalog of 30+ albums and continues to tour actively.  His 2022 release, I Can Face the Truth, encapsulates his evolution as a consummate storyteller.  The album mixes his signature fingerpicking guitar and harmonica with poignant lyrics on love, loss, and the current state of the world.  His decades of experience shine through in the ease and humor he brings to both his playing and storytelling.  Dana Cooper’s new album, The Ghost of Tucumcari—featuring Lyle Lovett, Hayes Carll, Susan Gibson, Mando Sanenz, Darden Smith and others—will be released on May 17, 2024.

Michael O’Connor is a singer/songwriter, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist who has performed and recorded with musicians including Ray Wylie Hubbard, Slaid Cleaves, Adam Carroll, Susan Gibson, and Jeff Plankenhorn.  A lifetime of hard-won experience has allowed Michael a rare insight into the world of the rough, the faithless, the romantic, and the unlucky, all of whom find refuge in his songs.  Michael O’Connor was described as “…part of the same Lone Star constellation as such Texas legends as Guy Clark, Kris Kristofferson, and the late Doug Sahm and Freddy Fender…” when he was inducted into the South Texas Music Walk of Fame in Corpus Christi, Texas—with a star bearing his name—in June 2010.  He has released seven albums and is continuing to release new music.  He was at the Happy Hen Barn last fall, accompanying Susan Gibson.

Michael O’Connor will play the opening set,
and then accompany Dana Cooper for a second set.

Exhibit Services & Eggs

Andy and Peg Granitto are retired from the Yakima Valley Museum,
where they developed, designed, fabricated and installed exhibitions.

Andy has over 30 years experience in exhibition development, design, and production
— following 10 years in carpentry, cabinet-making, and renovation contracting.
He has earned multiple degrees from the University of Colorado, Boulder
(Art History, Anthropology, and Museum Science).
Peg was his exhibit technician and assistant at Yakima Valley Museum for 15 years.

Happy Hen, LLC is their freelance exhibition design and consultation service.
While they had intended to do much freelance work after leaving YVM,
they have found that working on the ranch and feathering their nest in the barn
is more enjoyable and fulfilling. But we do provide exhibit services.
